General Peter Chiarelli spoke at the UW Evans School Monday. He said some great things, but one thing we really came away with was something he said about transitional psychology and measuring stress in the lives of individuals. He said that the stress put on a soldier in 6 years is like someone who's never left their hometown living to be 80.

Thank you Gen. Chiarelli for speaking at the Evans School, for your service, and your continued support of our nations troops and veterans.

The power of art to heal is being put to use through The War Experience Project by inviting current and former military service members to paint a camouflage service uniform. Some might know them as cammies, fatigues, blouses, DCU's, ACU's, Utilities, or battle dress uniform.

Regardless of what we call them, those who have worn the uniform have memories from their experiences that only those who have been in service can know and appreciate.

By painting onto a uniform, the participants are going through a positive and cathartic experience even with the most challenging memories.

Once the uniform is completed, the piece will be shown in exhibition throughout the world in an effort to share that experience with others, without having to tell the story.
